The Freemasons from Chorley, Preston and the Fylde and Lancashire Teaching
Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have teamed up to offer frightened children in A
and E a tender loving care (TLC) teddy.
Emergency staff from the Trust, which runs Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley
and South Ribble Hospitals, will use the teddies to show scared young children
medical procedures before they have treatment and provide comfort while they are
waiting to be seen.
The Freemasons from Preston, Chorley and the Fylde will fund the scheme as
part of their ongoing charitable activities.
Michael Dudley, Modern Matron in Accident and Emergency at Lancashire
Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is a very generous gesture
from the Freemasons and should provide a lot of comfort to young frightened
children.
“Attending A and E at a young age can be a very scary experience and the
teddies will really help demonstrate the treatment that children may have to
undergo.”
