LOCAL WOMEN AND GIRLS FUNDRAISE FOR BREAST CANCER CARE THROUGH A FESTIVAL OF ROUNDERS

The WAGs Get Active Rounders Festival took place on Saturday 9th July at Holy Cross High School in Chorley. Six teams participated in the event which saw around 100 women join in the sport or help out at the event. Each team paid £25 to take part in the event of which 25% went straight to BCC. Everybody had the chance to be winners, if not on the field, in the BCC raffle drawn at the end of the day which raised in total £176.20.

The winning team, having won 4 and drawn one of their games was Lostock Ladies Rounders team, closely followed by runners up Adlington XI and 3rd place Homeserve. Event organiser Donna Vinten said: "The day went really well, everybody who participated entered into the spirit of the day which made it such a pleasure to run. To see such an array of women and girls from various backgrounds come together to enjoy the sport of rounders and raise money for Breast Cancer Care was amazing. The feedback around the festival and the support I have received has been fantastic and I look forward to inviting the teams back next year hopefully along with a few more. The festival was a complete success not only raising money but encouraging some women now to start their own teams and enter the Bolton rounders league next year."

The winning team members each received a pink bouquet of flowers donated by Marshalls Florist in Chorley. The florist has supported the WAGs events over the past 3 years and the organisers would like to thank them for their continued collaboration.
