POLICE are appealing for information after a

woman was followed home and verbally abused and threatened as she walked her

dog in Bamber Bridge.

The

woman, in her 70’s, was out walking her dog at around 06.20am on the 8th

of August in Withy

Grove Park.

As she walked through the park near to the children’s play area, she saw three

dogs that were off their leads. She asked a man who appeared to be their owner

to put them back on their leads as dogs are not permitted on the children’s

play area, however, the man refused.

He

then became abusive and threatened the lady allegedly saying he would command

his three dogs to attack her dog.

The

lady, to avoid any further confrontation, left the park and began her journey

home. As she walked the man began to follow her and continued threatening

her.  The woman felt so uncomfortable she took refuge in a house she was

passing on Poplar Grove.

It

is believed the man then approached the house, picked up a paving stone and

smashed the front window and the front door before making off in the direction

of the leisure centre.

Police

are very keen to trace the man responsible for this attack and have released an

evo-fit image of a man they believe matches the description of the person

responsible.

DI

Marc Nasser of Leyland CID said, “This is a particularly vicious and nasty

attack on a lone woman and on the home of a good samaritian who tried to help

her when she was in need.

“I

would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything or anyone who recognises this

man to come forward and contact police on 01772 614444 or

anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
