A HOUSE in Adlington which has been at the

centre of serious nuisance and disorder for the last 12 months has been closed

down by police.

This

afternoon Chorley Magistrates granted a Closure Order at

the address on Bolton Road.

This follows

months of evidence gathering by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, working

closely with Chorley Borough Council and local residents about persistent

nuisance and disorder.

In the last

12 months, police have had to attend the house over 40 times, amid complaints

about loud music, criminal damage, violence and drug taking.

Speaking

after the Order was granted, Community Beat Manager PC Matt Lee, said:

"This is a real victory for local residents. The Neighbourhood Policing

Team has worked tirelessly, compiling statements and gathering evidence against

the property, taking a stand for the honest and hard working people whose lives

have been blighted by inconsiderate and disruptive anti-social behaviour.

“I am

delighted with the result and hope it sends out a clear message that police

will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will use all available legislation

to take firm action against those involved in serious and persistent anti

social behaviour.

“I am

extremely grateful to local authority and the local community for helping

secure this positive outcome.”

The Closure

Order means that the address will be closed for six weeks, during which time it

will be an offence under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act to remain in or enter

the house. A person who commits an offence under this act is liable to up to

six months’ imprisonment or a fine of up to £5,000 or both.

Police can

apply to extend the Closure Order by an extra period of three months if they

feel this is necessary.

Anyone with

any information or concerns about crime or anti social behaviour in their

neighbourhood is urged to contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers

anonymously on 0800 555 111.
