POLICE are inviting any residents in
Adlington who have had items stolen from their gardens to come Adlington police
station to see if they recognise anything after a number of items were recently
seized by police.
Over the last
18 months, Adlington Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware of a
number of thefts of garden items in the area and recently, information gathered
during investigations led police to seize a large number of items believed to
have been stolen from local gardens.
Community
Beat Manager for Adlington, PC Matt Lee said, “Although we have had a number of
reports, many of more of these incidents may have gone unreported to police
possibly due to residents not wanting to waste our time. However, I would urge
people to report any thefts to us as type of crime can have a significant
effect on people that spend many hours caring for their garden and some items
may even have sentimental value.
“We are
committed to resolving these thefts and an investigation is underway. As part
of this investigation, officers recently made a significant seizure of items
that we believe have been stolen from all over Adlington and we would urge
people to come to the station to see if they can identify any of the items.
“We want to
identify as much property as possible and make sure it is returned it to its
rightful owner”
Some of the
items that have been stolen include solar powered lights, garden ornaments,
potted plants and hanging baskets.
Residents are
invited to attend the police station between 3pm and 6pm on Sunday 22nd
August to view the items.
